Chaiya Meditation Monastery

About Us

CMM accommodates a resident Sangha of fully ordained monks and nuns dedicated to practicing the Buddha's teachings.  Founded on December 4, 1995, by Ajahn Chaiya and his disciples, the monastery aims to present Theravada Buddhism in its original essence to Thai, Burmese, Lao, and American communities of all backgrounds.

CMM serves society through diverse community-oriented activities.  Through intensive meditation, Dhamma talks, and classes, practitioners develop inner stillness and a deeper understanding of themselves and the world.

This wisdom fosters compassion and kindness, as the monastery strives to bring Buddhist values of tolerance and non-violence to the modern world.

On January 9, 1996, CMM was officially recognized as a non-profit organization.
